I first learned about HSR while exploring different news platforms. I was excited to discover that HSR gives students the opportunity to work as student reporters and publish articles on topics they are genuinely interested in. It seemed like a unique way to combine my interest in writing with my academic interests.

HSR gave me the opportunity to dive deeper into topics I was curious about while sharing what I learned with a broader audience. Rather than simply researching these subjects on my own, I wanted to turn my curiosity into articles that could inform and engage other readers. Through HSR, I have been able to explore my interests through both research and journalism.

Many of the articles I wrote for HSR focused on aging, healthcare, and biomedical topics, which often connected with subjects I was studying in classes such as AP Biology and AP Chemistry. Writing these articles allowed me to see how scientific concepts I learned in the classroom could be applied to real-world situations and health issues. Researching beyond the classroom also helped me strengthen my ability to understand complex scientific information and communicate it clearly in a way that readers could easily follow.

Over the past six months, HSR has given me the opportunity to consistently explore gerontology, one of my strongest academic and personal interests. Each month, writing a new article encouraged me to investigate a different aspect of aging, from healthcare challenges to emerging scientific research. As I continued researching and writing, I became increasingly interested in the field and realized that gerontology is something I would like to explore further in the future.

One of the things I appreciate most about HSR is the freedom it gives students to explore their own interests and share what they learn with a broader audience. Unlike a typical school assignment, HSR allows me to choose topics that genuinely interest me and publish articles that real readers can engage with. Knowing that my writing can reach people beyond my school makes the research and writing process much more meaningful.

I am very grateful to HSR for giving me the opportunity to grow as a student, writer, and reporter. My experience over the past six months has broadened my perspective and encouraged me to explore the subjects I care about more deeply. I hope to continue writing as a student reporter and pursue similar opportunities in the future, where I can continue to research topics that interest me, develop my ideas through writing, and share what I learn with others.
